SCAR TISSUE
A THRILLER
To the casual onlooker Mac might seem well balanced, but only because he carries a chip on both shoulders.
Consumed by guilt over the death of his lover in war torn Aleppo and fired from his role as an award-winning UK war correspondent the giant, brooding Scotsman moves to sparkling, sunny Sydney to rebuild his life. With his life continuing to disintegrate around him, Mac takes a role as a lowly reporter in a local rag. He is thrown a lifeline, a routine interview with a wealthy mining magnate. After travelling deep into the Australian bush, he unearths a network of corruption at the highest levels and a wealthy family dynasty who will stop at nothing, including murder, to silence him.
I am currently seeking a literary agent. If Scar Tissue sounds interesting, please contact me via email, phone or complete the form.
COMPELLING STORYTELLING FOR BUSINESSES
Businesses are struggling like never before to combat digital fatigue. Customers, prospects and partners are bombarded hourly with spammy, self promotional clap trap and are increasingly disengaged and cycnical.
It's time to tell them a story.
Novel writing has been a long-held dream. No really. I mean long. The same year Luke Skywalker destroyed the Death Star and John Travolta strutted the dance floor in his oh-so-cool white three-piece suit, I won a creative writing prize at school. The seed was sown, but only recently fertilised.
As I learnt my new craft, reading books on writing, attending online courses, writing, rewriting, working on draft after draft of my novels, I came to realise there are some notable similarities between the twin worlds of business marketing and novel writing.
The golden thread weaving them together is “story.” Specifically, the elements of a well told, compelling, authentic story. Unfortunately, much marketing is the opposite. Blatantly self-serving, self-centred, uninteresting and superficial content plagues marketing. In this article, I show marketers how to use the interesting compelling stories of your customers to inform and engage your buyers instead of boring and befuddling them with corporate mumbo jumbo.
